Captain America 2 already in the works?

One of Marvel Studios potential summer blockbusters in 2011 — Captain America: The First Avenger — is still more then 6 months away from its US release (July 22nd) yet it appears that the now Disney owned company is already making plans for a sequel.

Latino Review reported February 10th, that scribes from the first film — Stephen McFeely & Christopher Markus — have already been secured to begin working on the follow-up film.

Marvel Studios July 22nd release, Captain America: The First Avenger

In addition to staring in his own feature film during the summer of 2011, Captain America will also be seen on the big screen in 2012 along with Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, Black Widow and the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D agents in director Joss Whedon’s Avengers.

Potentially Captain America 2 would be released in the summer of 2013 along with sequels to Iron Man, Thor or even The Incredible Hulk.

So much of the future plans of Marvel Studios will depend on the success of Thor and Captain America this summer.

Should they turn out to be the next Iron Man, then Marvel will be on fire and true masters of their domain (comic book movies).

Should either of these movies deliver like say Daredevil or Ghost Rider (even though they are making a sequel to Ghost Rider) then future success might be less certain.

Either way, this will be a big summer for fans of the superhero movie.
